چکیده

At the Tevatron, the total pp̄ cross-section has been measured by CDF at 546GeV and 1.8 TeV, and by E710/E811 at 1.8 TeV. The two results at 1.8 TeV disagree by 2.6 standard deviations, introducing big uncertainties into extrapolations to higher energies. At the LHC, the TOTEM collaboration is preparing to resolve the ambiguity by measuring the total pp cross-section with a precision of about 1%. Like at the Tevatron experiments, the luminosity-independent method based on the Optical Theorem will be used. The Tevatron experiments have also performed a vast range of studies about soft and hard diffractive events, partly with antiproton tagging by Roman Pots, partly with rapidity gap tagging. At the LHC, the combined CMS/TOTEM experiments will carry out their diffractive programme with an unprecedented rapidity coverage and Roman Pot spectrometers on both sides of the interaction point. The physics menu comprises detailed studies of soft diffractive differential cross-sections, diffractive structure functions, rapidity gap survival and exclusive central production by Double Pomeron Exchange.

Diffraction at Tevatron and Lhc in the Miettinen-pumplin Model *

The process of soft diffractive dissociation in hadronic collisions is discussed in the framework of the Miettinen-Pumplin model. A good description of the data in the ISR-Tevatron energy range is found. Predictions for the total, elastic and single diffractive cross sections for the LHC are also presented. The total cross section is expected to be 15% smaller than that given by Donnachie and L...

تولید مزون‌های سنگین (S1)Bc در LHC و Tevatron Run II با در نظر گرفتن اسپین کوارک

In this research, we have investigated the effect of spin orientation of quarks on the production of the Bc(1S) heavy mesons. We have calculated the fragmentation functions at initial scale µ° .Then we have modified to µ these fragmentation functions by using Altrali-Parisi equation. Also, we have calculated the transverse momentum distributions of the differential cross sections . Our results...

Diffractive Production at Collider Energies I: Soft Diffraction and Dino’s Paradox

One of the more interesting developments from recent collider experiments is the finding that hadronic total cross sections as well as elastic cross sections can be described by the exchange of a “soft Pomeron” pole in the near-forward limit. The most important consequence of Pomeron being a pole is the factorization property. However, due to Pomeron intercept being greater than 1, the extrapol...

Total, elastic and diffractive cross sections at LHC in the Miettinen–Pumplin model

Predictions for the total, elastic and single diffractive cross sections calculated for the LHC in the framework of the Miettinen-Pumplin model are presented. The total cross section is expected to be 15% smaller than that determined by Donnachie and Landshoff in the model with soft pomeron. The diffractive cross section is almost constant in the Tevatron–LHC energy range.

Supersymmetric Electroweak Corrections to Charged Higgs Boson Production in Association with a Top Quark at Hadron Colliders

We calculate the O(αewm 2 t(b)/m 2 W ) and O(αewm 4 t(b)/m 4 W ) supersymmetric electroweak corrections to the cross section for the charged Higgs boson production in association with a top quark at the Tevatron and the LHC. These corrections arise from the quantum effects which are induced by potentially large Yukawa couplings from the Higgs sector and the chargino-top(bottom)-sbottom(stop) co...
